On October 2nd, Hello Foto helped facilitate a community design charrette organized by Exhibit Change. We had already participated in other Exhibit Change events such as the PACT Greenhouse Design Charrette and a CCNCTO Chinatown Scavenger Hunt (Which we won!), so when we were approached to help out, we jumped at the chance!
Focusing on ideas relating to Eat, Play, Work, Learn and Live and their relation within Ward 27 (Toronto Centre - Rosedale), residents, architects, educators and city councilor candidates came together to share ideas with each other.
There was a myriad of ideas that flew back and forth.  One of the more impressive was turning the lanes behind restaurants into open air retail walkways.  By giving them names (instead of just referring to them as “the lane way behind so-and-so”) and making them more than just unused back alleys, everything from fire safety to urban intensification would be changed for the better.
Congratulations on yet another hugely successful event!  Be sure to invite us to the next one!!!
Cheers,

Hitoshi & Vince

About:

Hello Foto is the collaboration of Vincent Luk and Hitoshi Murakami in their effort to present their vision of photography and its possibilities. As an idea, Hello Foto stems from their personal philosophy that beauty in all its form can be found everywhere and anywhere. All it takes is a different perspective, open mind and perhaps, a little bit of courage to reach out and grab it.
