We would love to tell you guys all about “BY THE POUND” but rather than butcher the concept in our own words, it’s probably better to steal the description from the Facebook blurb.  Read on!
“The idea behind this exhibit is simple. We are comparing the idea of purchasing art and purchasing meat. People who know their meats and care about quality will typically purchase from a butcher instead of the pre-packaged grocery stores and people who care about the quality of art and the idea of owning an original instead of a crappy prin t from Ikea will typically purchase from a gallery. SO having said that, we will be converting sleeping giant gallery into a “meat market” with the help of our good friends over at Sanagan’s Meat Locker in Kensington Market and for the night of November 26th 2010 we will be selling art “By The Pound”. If you’re interested to see how this concept pans out, or if you’re interested in seeing any of the 100 participating artists, we suggest you arrive as early as possible because it’s going to be a full house. Like always, we will be providing good music, good people and good art. Hope to see you all out!”
There you have it!  November 26th!  Be there!
Cheers,
Hitoshi & Vince

p.s. If you’re wondering about the giant pig, you’re gonna hafta come out and see!

About:

Hello Foto is the collaboration of Vincent Luk and Hitoshi Murakami in their effort to present their vision of photography and its possibilities. As an idea, Hello Foto stems from their personal philosophy that beauty in all its form can be found everywhere and anywhere. All it takes is a different perspective, open mind and perhaps, a little bit of courage to reach out and grab it.
