So with CONTACT taking up the majority of our time, we’ve been letting this blog slide a bit.  Apologies.  It won’t happen again.  (Maybe. Haha!)
Anyway, we never took the time to talk about some of the Community based art projects we’ve been involved with.  The next couple of posts will probably touch on that a bit more.
Basically, we kind of just fell into it.  Like falling into a bowl or M&M’s or something delightful like that.  What started out as a search for a venue for CONTACT last September has snowballed into a totally new facet of Hello Foto that we never even considered when we started out.
Last month we wrapped up a storytelling workshop with the youth at University Settlement (The building that looks like a school next to OCAD in front of the park).  Going through the basic elements of capturing stories on video was interesting enough, but the things these kids talked about blew our minds!  Dreams, giant feet and a guest appearance by a famous talk show host?!  We were never this interesting when we were young…  Teaching and learning from other people can be the most gratifying experience and we’re so glad that we could be a part of this.  Eventually we hope that we can do something with Catherine Campbell (The creative director at University Settlement) and the youth that is more focused on the stories found around the Grange for their 100 year anniversary.
But more on that at a later time.  We can’t be telling you guys ALL our secrets.  :)
Cheers,

Hitoshi & Vince
p.s.  Luminato is starting this Friday!  Check it out!

About:

Hello Foto is the collaboration of Vincent Luk and Hitoshi Murakami in their effort to present their vision of photography and its possibilities. As an idea, Hello Foto stems from their personal philosophy that beauty in all its form can be found everywhere and anywhere. All it takes is a different perspective, open mind and perhaps, a little bit of courage to reach out and grab it.
